Admission to the Bachelor's Degree

The general requirements for entry to Levels 100 and 200 of the bachelor's degree programmes are as follows:

West Africa Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSSCE) and equivalent qualifications whose candidates are admitted to Level 100.

  1. Other Qualifications: Other qualifications include International Baccalaurette (IB), IGCSE, GCSE, the American Grades 12 and 13 examinations and other external qualifications which have equivalences to the SSSCE and the GCE. Candidates with external qualifications are admitted to either Level 100 or Level 200, depending on the nature of qualification and their equivalences to local qualifications.

Please note that with effect from the 2007/2008 academic year, the University has ceased to accept applicants in possession of 'O' and 'A' Level certificates issued by the West African Examinations Council.

REQUIRED SUBJECTS FOR THE CALCULATION OF AGGREGATES

For guidance, applicants are to note the subject requirements in the calculation of aggregates for the various programmes offered:
  1. Humanities (BA)
    • Core Mathematics, English & Social Studies
    • Three Electives

  2. Engineering/Science (B.Sc.)
    • Core Mathematics, English & Integrated Science
    • Three Electives from Biology, Chemistry, Physics & Elective Mathematics

  3. Agriculture (B.Sc.)
    • Core Mathematics, English & Science
    • Three Electives from, Chemistry, Physics & Biology/General Agriculture

  4. Nursing
    • Core Mathematics, English & Science ( Minimum C4-6/D)
    • Three Electives from, Chemistry, Physics , Biology or Elective Mathematics
    • General Agriculture, Physics & Chemistry
    • Three General Arts Electives

  5. Pharmacy
    • Core Mathematics, English, Integrated Science & Social Studies
    • Three Electives from Biology, Chemistry and either Physics or Mathematics
Applicants must note that due to increased numbers of applicants, most Colleges/Schools/Faculties/Departments admit by 1st Choice ONLY.

Bachelor of Science in Home Science - BSc (Home Science)
Bachelor of Science in the Natural Sciences - BSc
Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy - BPharm
Bachelor of Science in Allied Health Sciences** - BSc
Bachelor of Science in Nursing - BSc (Nursing)
Bachelor of Science in the Medical Sciences** - BSc (Medical Sci)
Bachelor of Dental Surgery** - BDS
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery** - MB ChB

*Available only to candidates who hold a Bachelor's degree from a recognized institution.
