UNIVERSITY OF GHANA GRADUATE PROGRAMME IN climate change and sustainable development
ADMISSIONS FOR 2012/2013 ACADEMIC YEAR
(FIRST INTAKE - January 2013)
The School of Graduate Studies of the University of Ghana is pleased to announce its new post-graduate programme in Climate Change and Sustainable Development and to invite applicationsfrom qualified candidates for admission into the programme. The programme is to be offered initially at the MSc and MPhil Levels as follows:
- MSc Climate Change and Sustainable Development: (University of Ghana Business School) - Duration: 12 months
- MPhil Climate Change and Sustainable Development (a multidisciplinary programme led by the Faculty of Social Sciences) – Duration: 24 months.
The programme aims to contribute to the development of expertise in Ghana and Africa for climate change and development issues and to promote research on climate change impact assessment, adaptation and mitigation. The programme will cover core courses including:
- Climate Change- Science and Evidence
- Climate Change Vulnerability, Impacts and Adaptation;
- Climate Change Mitigation for Sustainable Development
- Climate Change Policies & Legal Frameworks
- Climate Change and Society
- Environmental Sustainability & Impact Evaluation
- Green Business Management
- Ethics in Administration
- Research Methods
In addition students on the programme have the option to select electives based on their area of interest, Business Administration, Food Security, Water Resources, Ecosystems and Biodiversity.
A good first degree (at least a Second Lower) in Physical or Natural Sciences, Agricultural Science, Business Administration, Social Science or Law. Applicants may be required to attend a selection interview.
How to apply
University of Ghana application e-vouchers can be obtained by applicants at the following banks: Ecobank, HFC Bank and the Ghana Commercial Bank. The e-vouchers will be available at all the branches of these banks. Applicants should follow carefully the instructions given to enable them complete the online application form. Applicants must in addition submit the following documents to the Executive Secretary, School of Graduate Studies, University of Ghana, Legon.
- 2 copies of Certificate authenticated by institution awarding degree
- 2 copies of original Transcript
- 3 Referee Reports
- “Proof of submission of application” form.
Kindly write your serial number as it appears on the e-voucher on all the above documents before submitting them. The name of the programme being applied for and your telephone number should also be indicated on all the documents. All applicants who graduated from the University of Ghana from 1996 to date should indicate their ‘STUDENT IDENTITY NUMBERS’ on their forms before submission.
INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS AND GHANAIANS APPLYING FROM ABROAD
This category of applicants should visit the School of Graduate Studies, University of Ghana website at “http//:sgs.ug.edu.gh’’ to download the Graduate application form. After completion, the form should be sent to the Executive Secretary (address below) with a non-refundable application fee of US$ 95.00 in Travellers’ Cheque or International Money Order. Applicants can also pay directly or wire transfer into the UNIVERSITY OF GHANA ECOBANK ACCOUNT. Details of the Account are:
